Hello, guys!

So today I am back with a fresh new post about my new true love: Vitamin C Eye Gel by Swiss Botany.

You well know, I am always looking for an effective eye gel that will get rid of my eye bags.

I think I have finally found what I was looking for:

This little miracle eye gel has a powerful formula that helps to boost collagen so, it softens and diminish the fine lines and reduces the puffiness and sagginess and stubborn dark circles.

Here the description of the ingredients:

  • Vitamin C Eye Gel is formulated with the highest quality anti-ageing and skin brightening ingredients
  • Eliminates Eye puffiness, sagging skin and stubborn dark under eye circles
  • The very potent antioxidants contained in vitamin C soften and reduce wrinkles and pesky crow’s feet around the eye area. Oil free formula that is easy to apply and can be used daily.
  • Our formula used in this Vitamin C eye gel helps soothe and refresh the delicate skin around the eye
  • Contained in a unique airless pump to maintain freshness and potency making Vitamin C Eye Gel super efficient.

I have very sensitive skin around my eyes, and they dry and crack and hurt quickly. This product does not cause any irritations to my eyes and works for the sensitive skin. Just takes a dab and you’re ready to go. The skin around my eyes feels softer and more healthy than it did before using this product. I like the pump dispenser and the fact that it isn’t oily nor does it dry up and leave my skin tight.

Australia! my story and some advice

Hello, guys!

I am terribly sorry because of my absence during almost two months.

I had a busy schedule and moved to Australia!

Brisbane is a fresh, cool place: people is kind and night sights are incredible, food is good too. The downside of this dreamland is that it is also a very expensive place where to live.

For many reasons Australia ( “STRAYA”) is considered a dream destination but life is not easy down here.

I used to live in the UK, where people speaks slow and have a strong accent. Sure thing, coming to Australia forces you to understand a way different accent. Where “I” sound is like an “o+i” and  “oo” sounds like “ew”. Food is more expensive than you think!

There is no Poundland or those cheap shops like in England where you can buy food for 1 GBP. Nope, here you easily spend for your grocery shopping $100 AUD. Yes, you read well, $100. The point that most people don’t consider is that in Australia, the minimum wage is way higher than England. Here is around $20 p/h while in the UK is about 7.20GBP.

But it is right, on your first arrival in Australia; everything will look very expensive (without thinking about the wages and the change of currency).

Transport.

Respect England transport is cheap! I remember while I was living in Surrey(South East England) to go to London will be around 30GBP. Ridiculous.  In Brisbane from where I live to go to the city will cost me $4 about 2GBP.

A good tip is when you are looking for a job, depending on where are you based at the moment seek jobs around you in order not to waste too much money on transport.

Also, get a translink GO CARD, is cheaper than no buying a ticket on the bus or on the train and easier to TOP UP.

530793586190944740308196390786n1

Jobs

Being an immigrant holding a WHV (working holiday visa) I tell you from personal experience you will need to bang on every single door to find a job.

Is not easy as it is in the UK that everywhere you go there a sign on the door “we are hiring.” Here most of the places recruit online, and if you arrive around September most of the companies will start hiring at the end of October as “Christmas Casual”.

Usually, Christmas casual gets paid a bit more than usual retailers, but not everywhere is like that.

Some of the companies will you pay less than $20 I tell you. Most of them will give you what you expect if you are willing to earn commissions. Now, that is a good thing if you are a great seller and excited on making $300 or more a week. Could do.

But, if you are not a good seller, going on a commission is a lot of pressure, and your teammates will become your enemies after a time.

So, if you are a bit shy, the best advice I can give to you apply for cashier or positions where the customer service is still required but is more practical than talking to a client.

Coles & Woolworths are huge supermarket companies) they recruit online. You can try there.

Harvey Norman is an electrical/computer company, good company if you are:

great seller

computers/electrical lover

Keen to earn around $19 base salary plus commissions.

You are required to be a great seller. You apply online although, I recommend you to go in person to the store and talk to the boss if he’s around. Makes such a big difference. You cannot be shy, and you can make good bucks weekly, and that keeps a smile on your bosses’ face too. Truly competitive field.

Myer

is like Debenhams in the UK, department store you probably can expect getting paid approx. $20 p/h, depending on where the store is located.

myer-366x337

Skin care shops

some good skin care stores will pay you more than $23 per hour which is great.

If you have experience selling skin care products etc. that’s a bonus.

Fashion shops

Now, this depend on where you handle your resume. Some fashion shops will pay you per hour below 20 bucks other will pay you more. It’s a matter of knocking doors and ask how much you will get paid depending on your age too.

A good tip print more than 10 resumes and go around ask if you can hand your cv there and if you can talk to the manager even better is always best talk in person than not only apply online. You will have more chances to be hired.

Shopping

To every girl, before you start spending your savings in clothes in Australia,

I do honestly suggest you buy your garments from Ebay or some cheap clothes webpages.

When I came to Australia I looked around, and I fell in love with many clothes, but truth is they are expensive. Very expensive. So I started buying the same style from Ebay or Amazon or some Korean web page and YES BABY! Saving bucks and getting a fashionable and renewed wardrobe there is nothing better than that.

A good tip cheap clothes shops are : JAY JAY have a look there is not too bad, if you really want some expensive clothes buy it! you only live once anyways.

Grocery Shopping

If you intend saving a bit of money, I will go to Woolworths.

woolworths-refuribishments-3

You can sign up for a reward card, and you earn points and those points turn into “savings” after a while. Woolworths has better offers than Coles most of the time.

A  good tip Some of the essentials for the house: coffee, toothbrushes, shampoo, etc. You may want to try to go to Bargain City or The Reject Shop. Those are an Australian version of Poundland a bit more expensive but definitely cheaper than some of the shops.

Well, guys, I hope this post did help a bit to anyone who is planning to come to Australia, if you want to add any comment, please do! I will try to answer as soon as it is possible.

Big hug! 🙂

BRALET passion !

My dear friends,

it has been a while since my last post.

I have been very busy and further I managed to injure myself. I broke my ankle. 😦 very painful.

Lately, I have been falling in love with the new trend: BRALETTES

what is a bralette?

A bralette is a bra without wires or molded cups, think on par to a sports bra, but without the intensity to hold you in. They have thin or lacy straps like a regular bra, and provide a reasonable amount of support for small to average busted women.

my favourite bralettes at the moment are:

s-l500

X cross – elasticated bands, gorgeous

express-strappy-cage-bralettes

cage and heart shape

and Lace !

This slideshow requires JavaScript.

Unfortunately, most of the bralettes that I fall in love with are out of my budget, but,

I have found something that inspires me to create my personalised bralettes!

DIY IS THE SOLUTION

For all the ladies out there wishing to have expensive and gorgeous bralettes LISTEN UP!

These videos in Youtube will change your perspective and creativity. They already changed mind and I can’t wait to make my own bralettes!

For those who wants a bralette full of laces check @witwendy ‘s video!

another awesome video to watch is from @AndreaGarcia

lacy crop tops, a must for festivals!

There is plenty of DIY videos on youtube!

Soon, I will start my own bralette and I will post some pictures.

Take care guys,

REPORT: Stagecoach, worst bus service ever

img94joktmu72819

I lived in London, for two months, and I never felt the necessity of the transport.

Public transport is far too expensive in London for me, although, it’s reliable and fast.

londonbus

In November, I moved with my boyfriend to his house in a village located in Surrey.

The only way to reach the nearest town is by bus; the bus service is a nightmare.

Now, for privacy, I won’t mention the bus service I get but I will talk in general about Stagecoach.

Where I live there’s no train station, so, we rely on the bus. If there is traffic, say goodbye to your morning, as you going to spend more than an hour in the bus.

My personal experience: On the 2nd of August I had a flight to catch to go to Barcelona, I woke up early and went to the bus station thinking it will be on time. Spoke too soon. The bus was 15 minutes late, further, there was an accident on the A3 so we had to slow down. Obviously, I was too late for everything. I missed my flight and £137 I was pissed, so much. I asked for a refund to Stagecoach for my flight tickets and of course they don’t blame themselves, is all about the traffic. Shame on them.

stagecoach_bus_22639_man_alexander_dennis_enviro300_yn08_jdu_in_sheffield_24_march_2009

Stagecoach is so far the worst bus service, expensive around £ 22 a week, a single ride around £ 8/9  and they will let you down with the service when you less wanted.

The service should be improved as soon as possible because as a passenger I would not recommend this service to anybody. If I had a car or if you drive I would definitely drive. More bus services that cross the villages, as obvious, there is not good train connection. For instance, the closest train station, where I live, is 30 minutes by walk, not even joking.

Conclusion, very disappointed.

TV SERIES! :)

Hello there!

I am back with a new post; this time my TOP TV SERIES!

here there are my TOP 5 favourites

Nº 5

HOMELAND

“Homeland is an American political thriller television series developed by Howard Gordon and Alex Gansa based on the Israeli series Hatufim (English title: Prisoners of War), which was created by Gideon Raff. The series stars Claire Danes as Carrie Mathison, a Central Intelligence Agency officer with bipolar disorder, and Damian Lewis as Nicholas Brody, a U.S. Marine Corps Scout Sniper. Mathison had come to believe that Brody, who was held captive by al-Qaeda as a prisoner of war, was “turned” by the enemy and poses a threat to the United States.” – Wikipedia

homeland

Claire Danes is a fantastic actress! You will be amazed how well she plays the role of Carrie Mathison. If you love political dramas as well as an intricate love story, this tv show will be your love.

I am into this TV SERIES, a lot,  and I can’t wait to Season six comes out! 😀

Nº4

SPARTACUS

“Spartacus is an American television series produced in New Zealand that premiered on Starz on January 22, 2010, and concluded on April 12, 2013. The series was inspired by the historical figure of Spartacus, a Thracian gladiator who from 73 to 71 BCE led a major slave uprising against the Roman Republic departing from Capua. Executive producers Steven S. DeKnightand Robert Tapert focused on structuring the events of Spartacus’ obscure early life leading up to the beginning of historical records.

After the completion of the first season titled Spartacus: Blood and Sand, production for another season was delayed because lead actor Andy Whitfield was diagnosed with early-stage non-Hodgkin lymphoma so Starz produced a six-episode prequel mini-series entitled Spartacus: Gods of the Arena. When the actor’s cancer recurred and he later died on September 11, 2011, Starz had actor Liam McIntyre take on the role of Spartacus in the second season titled Spartacus: Vengeance. On June 4, 2012, Starz announced the third and final season, titled Spartacus: War of the Damned. – Wikipedia”

spartacus_blood_and_sand_2010_key01

I watched SPARTACUS with my boyfriend less than a year ago.

Is an intricate story but gets your attention so well! We were so caught up with every season.

It’s a pity there are no more episodes to watch, but I can’t recommend enough this TV SHOW!

WARNING & DISCLAIMER: If you are a sensitive watching: violence, gore, blood and hard sex scenes; this tv series is not meant for you.

Nº3

The Walking Dead

The Walking Dead is a post-apocalyptic zombie drama.

4ude2wwe_400x400

“Rick Grimes is a former Sheriff’s deputy who has been in a coma for several months after being shot while on duty. When he awakens, he discovers that the world has been ravished by a zombie epidemic of apocalyptic proportions and that he seems to be the only person still alive. After returning home to discover his wife and son missing, he runs into survivors Morgan and his son; who teach him the ropes of the new world. He then heads for Atlanta to search for his family. Narrowly escaping death at the hands of the zombies on arrival in Atlanta, he is aided by another survivor, Glenn, who takes Rick to a camp outside the town. There Rick finds his wife Lori and his son, Carl, along with his partner/best friend Shane and a small group of survivors who struggle to fend off the zombie hordes; as well as competing with other surviving groups who are prepared to do whatever it takes to survive in this harsh new world. – Written by Contributors”

The whole story will make you want not even miss an episode. You may gonna think, after some seasons: “Why do I keep watching this TV show? (especially me)” Because the truth is, the first 30 minutes are pretty much conversation and little action the good things happen at 5 minutes to end the episode. You are basically, forced to watch the next episode.

If you become a “THE WALKING DEAD” good fan you may want to read the comics as well.

Nº2

GAME OF THRONES

mg7tpoaw

” Game of Thrones is an American fantasy drama television series created by David Benioff and D. B. Weiss. It is an adaptation of A Song of Ice and Fire, George R. R. Martin’s series of fantasy novels, the first of which is titled A Game of Thrones. It is filmed at Titanic Studios in Belfast and on location elsewhere in Northern Ireland, as well as in Croatia, Iceland, Malta, Morocco, Spain, Scotland, and the United States. The series premiered on HBO in the United States on April 17, 2011, and its sixth season concluded on June 26, 2016. The series was renewed for a seventh season, which is scheduled to air in 2017 with a total of seven episodes.

The series is set on the fictional continents of Westeros and Essos and interweaves several plot lines with a large ensemble cast. The first narrative arc follows a dynastic conflict among competing claimants for succession to the Iron Throne of the Seven Kingdoms, with other noble families fighting for independence from it; the second covers the attempts to reclaim the throne by the exiled last scion of the realm’s deposed ruling dynasty; the third chronicles the rising threat of the impending winter and the legendary creatures and fierce peoples of the North. – Wikipedia ”

Game of Throne is that kind of tv series that you just want to watch for hours and hours.

The plot is tangled and could be complex, so, you must follow and understand each episode. Once you are into the story, you will not be able to stop loving this TV series.

And now…

MY FAVOURITE TV SHOW at the moment is…

Nº1

SCREAM

“Scream is an American television series developed by Jill Blotevogel, Dan Dworkin and Jay Beattie for MTV and is based on the slasher film series of the same name created by Kevin Williamson. The series is produced by Dimension Television and MTV Production Development and is filmed in Louisiana, in locations such as Baton Rouge and New Orleans. The series is situated in the fictional town of Lakewood, where a string of murders take place. At the centre of these murders is Emma Duval (played by Willa Fitzgerald), a teenage girl who is somehow tied to the town’s dark past. The series premiered on June 30, 2015, on MTV. On July 29, 2015, MTV renewed the series for a second season, which premiered on May 30, 2016. – WIKIPEDIA”

I am not going to lie. I love and I am obsessed with this HORROR tv show!

If you are a horror/enigma movie lover, you will get so caught by this story, incredibly taken. Every episode makes you crave for more and more.

Not everybody is keen to watch it, because of some violent scenes or the gore but as I said, if you are into horror don’t miss this out.

Little secret #1: IUD(copper coil)

Hello my dear friends,

In today’s post, I want to share with you, my experience having a particular anticontraceptive device… COIL better know as IUD (Intrauterine device).

I am a very reserved person, but I think this post will help many confused women out there, because, is my personal experience.

I have never been in any anticontraceptive method, not even before meeting my current boyfriend.

Since I start dating my boyfriend the worry of getting pregnant was growing, therefore, I  decided to go to a GP to be assessed on contraceptive methods.

The doctor gave me a leaflet with all the options nowadays available. To be honest, I was scared. I never liked the thought of having hormones in my body (and I will never accept hormonal pills). I link the leaflet, with all the contraceptive methodologies available: your-guide-to-contraception

You can start by finding out about the methods of contraception you can choose from, including how they work, who can use them and possible side effects. These methods are:

There are two permanent methods of contraception:

Because I am in a long term relationship, the doctor suggested me going for the IUD.

Now, the thing is, there are two types of COIL: one with progesterone(hormones) and the other is no hormonal (copper).

My plan, since the beginning, was going for the no hormonal option.

The coil is a tiny device of a T-shape that is inserted into the womb to prevent pregnancy.

The hormonal coil can last from 3 to 5 years, the copper coil for 5-10 years. The copper coil downside is that can make your periods longer, heavier and painful.

The procedure:

In the UK, getting a COIL is free of charge. You will need to book an appointment with your GP and then is all set up.

The day of the appointment they will ask you to take ibuprofen or diazepam (if prescribed) an hour before you get your COIL. Doctors will ask you some private information before proceeding. The doctor will warn of one of the risks of the COIL: perforation of the tubes and the pain of the procedure.

Let’s be honest: it hurts.

The procedure, in my case, was longer than expected.

The pain was equal or worse than period pain. After having a rest, the pain felt is similar to a period pain, you bleed a bit too. The doctor says the pain will last for a couple of days and then should be all set.

If the pain aggravates, you will need to go to your GP to eventually get it removed.

23/06/2016

Today is the second day. I have period pain. I am taking painkillers (Ibuprofen, co-codamol) and trying to rest as much as possible. For the bleed spots, don’t use tampons, only pads.

I read somewhere that you will need to change your diet habits: avoid junk food and high processed food, eat food rich in Iron, vitamins A, C, K. Drink water.

I will keep an update on this topic.

I hope my experience helped a bit.

See you soon !

Update! Eye bags and dark cirles

Helloooooooo there!

In my last post, I reviewed and narrated my experience with some eye products:

  • Etude House – Collagen eye patches
  • Simple – Eye roll on
  • Simple – Eye balm
  • Lush – Enchanted

( Click the link below to go to my previous post!)

Eye Puffiness/Panda Eyes, HELP!

Today, I am going to talk about three new products:

  • CLARINS – Eye contour gel
  • Kiehl’s – Midnight Recovery Concentrate
  • Kiehl’s – Super Multi-Corrective Eye-Opening Serum

CLARINS – EYE CONTOUR GEL ——- THE WORST CREAM EVER

I went to Clarins’stand in House Of Fraser, in order to get a sample of the Eye Contour Gel. The assistant explained me the benefits of this gel on puffiness and dark circles, assuring it is a suitable product for sensitive skins. I was curious so she gave me a sample to try for one week.

What to say?

Lies, Lies, Lies.

I was thrilled to try this product.

It looked a good product and is a well-known brand.

The gel is crystal blue with a jelly texture. Fast absorption but looks shiny on the skin after applying it.

At night, after putting the gel on my eye bags, I felt a burning sensation under my eyes.

The day after, I had two rashes skin and dryness underneath my eyes. That morning, I went to work, everything was okay until I started feeling the burning sensation again. The sting was intense but I didn’t want to scratch my eyes, although I knew something was not right. A co-worker pointed out that my eyes were swollen, puffy and red.

Scared, I checked myself in the mirror… I was a monster!

After two hours, I took antihistamines and washed my face with cold water. I couldn’t believe myself.  I was about to cry.

I had to go to the doctors and get a prescription for dry/burnt skin problems. Thanks, God! was just a tiny sample.

I decided to send and email to Clarins and explain my experience. They did not reply.

How nice is that, thank you CLARINS.

In brief, if you are young with sensitive skin and your concern are eye bags, stay away from this eye cream.

£31 for 20ml.

Kiehl’s Midnight Recovery Concentrate

I love Kiehls stuff, so I decided to pay a visit to their shop and talk to an assistant. The girl from Kiehl’s gave me a sample to try this cream. She said to pat it onto your skin before going to bed.

Following the instructions I opened the little sample, and the cream is rich, thick and white at a touch. Under the eyes doesn’t sting, it feels fresh and creamy.

It contains natural extracts and oils like rose extract, squalane oil, Omega 3 & 6 – which helps to protect the facial skin and give it the needed moisture! Lavender Essential Oil helps soothe inflamed or irritated skin.

Has been a week, since I started using this cream; I haven’t noticed a difference.

Must be my stubborn dark circles that don’t want fade.

Overall, I love the cream although is a bit pricey: £39 for 30ml

KIEHLS MIDNIGHT 2.jpg

Kiehl’s – Super Multi-Corrective Eye-Opening Serum

The lady from Kiehl’s also showed me this cream and explained me the benefits of the ingredients of this one within 28 days.

The cream is paraben-free, mineral-oil-free, fragrance-free, colorant-free, and suitable for sensitive eyes.

The lady told me to apply the cream every day, during the day, to see a difference.

The cream is light, white and smells amazing. Don’t irritate your delicate skin.

Unfortunately, not even this cream worked for my dark circles and puffiness.

Super_Multi_Corrective_Eye_Opening_Serum_3605970473563_0.5fl.oz..jpg

Is also expensive considering is only 15 ml: £36

I would not rebuy this product.

Well, guys, these are my updated reviews. Hope it helped.

Next time, I will review Superdrug products!

See you soon!
